Bruce, where does the current blossom fall short?
OMG ! The hood on that bloom is to die for! Very nice Bruce!
I love the size of that synsepal. looks like there is paph fairrieanum in it.
Hi Joe,
When I look at the current bloom I can see several flaws. The most noticeable are the petals that are curling backwards. Next, I would say the synsepal is smaller in this blooming.
The amazing thing in the awarded bloom was the fact that both the dorsal and synsepal were very large and symmetrical. I actually think the coloring is better in the current bloom compared to the awarded one, but that could be photograph differences. The original one was photographed using a flash and with the current bloom, I did not use a flash. I still think it is a beautiful bloom, but I think if I had cared for it better, it would not be quite so misshapen. I did not stake the plant spike until it was almost open.
Yes, Fren, you are correct. It is a cross between Paphiopedilum Hsinying Cherry x Paphiopedilum fairrieanum.
And thanks everyone for the nice comments.
