    I bought it as an unnamed hybrid and found out later that Louis had one awarded. this one isn't as nice but it is dark...



    One of the more recent trends in vinicolor breeding has been the incorporation of different species into the standard vinicolor lineage. In this example, the incorporation of Paph. fairrieanum results in a combination of the delightful fairrieanum shape with the intense vinicolor pigmentation. Flowers are substantially larger than the fairrieanum parent, and the leaves are typically "lightly" mottled.

    Mmmm Looks like it's been sprayed with laquer - so shiny! May have to make more room.... sigh... let's see, if I sold the living room furniture....

    I do love the way the petals hang down and then does a sweep... and the intense colour...

    It's maybe 3.5" across and 3.5" in height. looks a lot like a large dark fairrieanum.
