So my Phal finished blooming, kicked off it's flowers and I cut it back. I was advised to give the cut a touch of cinnamon as an anti-fungicide, and did so... I don't know if it's related, but it's the only thing out of it's usual treatment, and the spike has these odd little bumps on it - about six or seven. It looks like the human equivalent of warts. I did a little searching with Google but didn't find anything relevant.

Of course!
Could it be from over-fertilization?
I would suggest that you cut the spike all the way back and wait for the next new spike to start. I have used cinnamon on cut leaves and such, but never on a spike. That doesn't mean that the cinnamon caused the problem.
