Dear All,
After I suspected some rot on the Phal with 5 spikes, I repotted it! It was not a beautiful siteAll the roots were rotten, so as Giovanna said, it might be the stress the cause of so many spikes. Anyways, the crown was not rotten so I repotted and placed it in my orchid room. I am hoping that it will grow new roots with 80% Humidity.
The main problem was the medium; there was spagh around the base of the plant, then some old broken-down bark + soil!(the guy I bought these from must not know anything about Orchids and must have added the soil) Great combination to help rot...
Today, i decided to repot the other one with three spikes, which had the same terrible medium! Luckily, the roots were amazingly healthy, except for two roots, so I caught it in timeI also used Hydogen Peroxide, by soaking the roots for about half an hour, just in case there was some rot that I skipped. I just hope that the flowers won't drop off. Anyways, the main thing is that this Phal doesn't meet the same fate as the other one...So here are some pics of this 3-spike Phal, which I re-potted using bark, mixed with Hydroton.
I will keep u posted on its progress![]()
It still looks like it has some very good roots. I hope it will make it for you. Good luck, Fadi.
Cheers,

Nice save! Most of the time I check the roots as soon as I get home but I would have a hard time pulling the five spiker out of the pot just to see the roots. Looks like they will be fine. Pretty blooms, too, good growing, Fadi.
