Orchid looking beat up by bacteria/fungus

Hi I’m not sure how to submit photos on phone

I didn’t know it was doing poorly when I bought it, it was my first orchid. Discovered bad root rot, so pit into bark. Rot progressed and now it’s water culture and roots are doing really well, green and hard.

However I noticed the leaves are getting poorly, getting wrinkly and covered in yellow spots and now brown dry, hard pits. I’ve used hydrogen peroxide to no avail and noticed the brown pits getting worse. It’s not raised and I don’t think it’s oedema.


I brought the plant to a local nursery and the “plant expert” just said “fungus spores” and left. In a facebook orchid group, I was told to just leave it alone but I’m too worried to do nothing.

Should I cut off the leaves? Do I buy some copper fungicide?

You don't mention the type of orchid so I will caution you some do not respond well to copper.
That said the nurseryman was probably right so find a non copper based fungicide and spray.
Good air movement around the plant helps to keep fungus from taking hold as well.

Oh dear, I added the link but it’s gone from my post, strange.

This is what it looks like. I think the yellow spots might be the fungus but not sure aboutt the pits.
It’s a phal.

I checked that link on my android phone and the message appears that says use the link below but there is nothing below, the tiny link thing is not present.
Does it only work on iphone?

Hmm.. thank you, Mike. It seems the tiny link image attachment script is not working now that we are in SSL encryption. I think our phones are blocking it, as the code is still there. For now, please upload photos using the desktop site.
