Wow! wish I had space to have these kind of "mini" lakes! Looks awesome!
I wish this was in my backyard...but this belongs to good friends we visited on our trip to Michigan. Aaron, the son of my friend was getting into some trouble, so his Mom decided to give him a job. Everytime he got into trouble she handed him the shovel and told him to dig. Over a couple schoolyears he dug quite a hole. When it was finally large enough, they cemented it over, had local kids put their handprints in and sign their names. Sealer was painted on, and the other equipment put in it's place...(to include an old hand water pump)...the water was added and properly aged. Now there are also a couple bass and a catfish...a few frogs, a turtle....and the surrounding area has grown over. It looks like something out of a picture post card, in fact I use the pictures as my desktop now because it's so pretty.

Gosh this lake is fantastic!!! Love the waterfall!!!
Connie, this is very nice!!! Great story and good idea!!! (I wonder how long will take my son to do it?!?!?!lol)
Firstly, Louis, that pond is awesome. I wish I had the space for a pond that size. Here is my own, more modest, pond. The net is to keep the neighbours cats out, and the occasional passing heron. I know it looks unsightly but it is the only way to keep the fish totally safe. I had to have a dragon in there somewhere ! My dad made Charlie the ceramic gorilla, in the first pic, about 35 years ago. He seems to like it there.
Steve - that is an awesome pond setup. It looks so peaceful and inviting.
Cheers,
BD :D
Steve ! Is wondeful ! maybe is modest (!) but is realy wonderful !
(I think cats are mad and fish calm and hapy)
Connie! What age have the son of your friend? My son has 17 ! Is ok?
Ruxandra
Ruxandra, 17 should be fine! My son will be 15 in march, so I guess I'll just get a bigger one?! lol
Yes Margo ,you have right ! Let's put to work, right?
Ruxandra
LOL! Wow, this post was fun to read...all the comments from living in the belly button of the bible belt to putting the kids to work (digging holes), trying to find a Poseidon without a ridiculous fig leaf covering his privates and sinking an old bathtub (what a great idea!!)...ooh this was a real hoot!
I'm really impressed with a lot of these pics/setups. Great job to everyone. I'll just enjoy all the natural "ponds" of Minnesota...land of a thousand lakes and a bazillion mosquitoes. :P
