How strange. It looks like a keiki with buds to me! The roots are not long enough to remove it though, so it is getting all its nutrients from the mother plant.

Weird..how come i am unable to like your guy's post.
Talking abt the plant...maybe the mother plant is in stress therefore the development of the keikis has such issue? The mother plant's roots is in bad condition and the medium is not proper...i guess i will repot once the new cane is growing.
Oh ya, speaking of repotting...i think dendrobium can last very long without water right? If that is the case can i repot by cutting off all old roots and wait for new cane growth which will develop new roots?

I have seen this with a few dendrobiums. Keikis which flower almost as soon as they start. One sticks in my mind because it does it so often - a nobile type hybrid with yellow flowers "Song Bird". They don't seem to be very useful, in that because they are in the wrong place they don't add much to the overall flowers, and they don't seem to be very good to take off and grow on as new plants.
Hmm...let me observe whether this keiki will die off or will grow after it finished blooming. :)Quote:
