I tried 6 phals, 4 catts and 2 dens on s/h last year. I lost 2 phals because of that, and moved 3 of the catts and the rest of the phals out of it, still leaving 1 catt and 2 dens in it. The ones still in s/h are doing good, the ones I moved out earlier are recovering pretty good also. But I am trying to put my oncis in it now, since I can't seem to provide the humidity they need in this hot weather, it will be the first time I try oncis on s/h.

I'm trying oncs and phrags and paphs in those pot-in-pot with a gauge s/h setups with primeagra. It's only been a couple of months, so the verdict's not in yet.
I have around 75 in s/h.Phals , Phrags , Onc's , Catts , Encyclias etc.
Most are doing really well.
My Cattleya species seedlings are doing really well since i lowered the res to about 1/4" high.
Just started to play with s/h. I have 2 paph compots, 4 paphs, 1 phrag, 4 catts, 1 zygo and 1 epidendrum. Soon to have 1 or 2 phal compots, a couple of b/s phals and a cymbidium going into it.
So far everyone seems happy.
I am using Ray's method from his site about S/H.......can I say that?
Probably not, Dave, but let peolple know you can PM them the link if they're interested!

There is really no need to PM the link since it is in our LINKS thread under Semi-Hydroponics. Any member wishing to view it can go there.Quote:

Hi all,
I have 4 plants in s/h (of ~100 in total): a phal, a reed-stem epidendrum, a restrepia and a gongora. So far, none have died--indeed, the gongora was nearly dead when I put it into s/h and is now growing. I'm not intending to give a ringing endorsement of s/h with this post because I just don't feel I have enough experience with it yet. My suggestion to anyone wishing to try it would be to put a plant you have a duplicate of into s/h. That way, if you lose the one in s/h, you have a "back-up". Actually, I guess I'd say never to switch *all* your plants into any new medium, no matter how much rave reviews it receives.
The two Lc.'s I've got in S/H are doing great. One has three new growths that are doing well, and both have tons of new roots :)
