This water culture looks so encouraging. I am staring at my chids while reading the thread and asking myself which will be the best candidate for this experiment....hmmm
I agree!! I have about 7 now in water culture...its really fun!!! Its just that most of mine don't fit in pretty vases, so I had to use my SH containers and put tape over the holes so the water doesn't come out, LOL...
I am growing some orchids in Western Australia as well. I'll try the water culture and see what kind of results I get.
Miki you said you grow yours on a window sill, what direction does it face?
Thanks,
Shaun
I have 3 phals that I'm going to put to water culture. 1 lost all its leaves through top rot. 1 has only 2 leaves with the top one missing and the other one was just a sorry individual. Until I read these posts, I didnt know too much about water culture so they were in water 24 hrs then left to dry 5 days. Didnt really expect much, but all 3 are showing new root stubs. So now I will put them in water and leave them and see how we go. Will try and post photo as they are now. Thanks for all the info peoples. Most appreciated.
I thought rootswill rot in water?
Juliet, these look fabulous!!! Wow! I've recently started full water culture too. I still have a cat from the last WTC orchid show. I should put that one in water too. So far I have an oncidium in a Goldenberg Peanut Chew container. It is doing great and is flowering. The root system is amazing. At work I have three phals in full water and they are doing well. Two of them are flowering in their cups of water. good job!!!
