You could mount a dendrobium or cattleya too.

Bruce, what would grow 'big' enough to need that much to support it??
That is easy put a couple on it.

With a log that big, you could mount an exhibit's worth of orchids.
Whats holding the log upright? does it have a concrete base or anything?
Is the log actually as big as it seems or is it a result of how the photo was taken? Can you give the actual dimensions? What kind of wood is it? Where do you plan on keeping it? Do you care if the mount's more interesting traits get covered up? Dens, catt, & phals could work as well as bulbos and many others. Mini's or small growers might be more desireable choices if you would like the wood's natural points of interest to still be seen.
Myself, I like putting orchids that are smaller to start with onto wood. Larger, more mature orchids sometime get too used to one medium: IMHO, and don't adapt to the open/dryer conditions. When I am able to find keikei's that have been dangling mid-air to mount, I find they take to the wood more readily. Oncidiums, encyclia, dendrobiums and the cattleyas are the easiest to mount for me. They seem to adapt faster. Have fun choosing...you have a nice mount to work with.
a Laelia anceps would grow well there and I see that there is one for sale on this forum
