Swapped a mate a plant of mine he wanted for this. It is awarded & according to the write up it had one flower. This as you can see will have 2. Another friend says his plant get 13 - 15 flowers per spike. Something to look forward to.....
Not the best pic but too excited to wait.

I think I'd need that "Barrel of Brandy" to clear that intense color from my mind!
That one is worth some excitement. It looks like you Aussies have not shared this cross with the rest of the world. Selfish b@$+@<)$...
It certainly has the Ctt part, what I still call Broughtonia, crossed with cattleya, making cattleytonia, all over it. Maybe the G is from guaranthe ? Which would account for the depth of colour.
Always great to guess like this, then look it up and find myself a mile out ! But orchidwiz is 5000 (?) miles away, so I can just think what a clever chap I am without risking disillusionment.
Looks great, I would be sitting close by with that barrel of brandy enjoying the bloom!
OrchidWiz would confirm that you are a clever chap:
Bro. sanguinea 31.3%
C. intermedia 25%
C. labiata 18.8%
C. bicolor 12.5%
Gur. bowringiana 12.5%
Along with Gur. bowringiana, C. bicolor also tends to promote color saturation when combined with reds or purples. One or both of those species contribute to 3 out of 4 of the grandparents. The depth of color wasn't by chance.
Beautiful!
I managed to get a large plant of this earlier in the year. The colour isn't all that good here, it is a deeper. This the pic from awards list.
