    Default Registered Cross?

Does anyone know if Lc. Angel Love x Pot. Little Toshie has been registered? If so, anyone know the name?

Yup, it's registered as Pot. Rainbow White by Cole on the 7/4/2000. The originator was Long Life [USA] according to RHS.

Edit: The reverse cross isn't registered though, so go for that one if you were thinking of nekkid orchid sex..

    Thanks Christian...

I do appreciate your help. I can't do reverse lookups on the RHS website!

    No problemo

I just use the "parentage search" and type in the grex names and leave genus blank, to reverse the lookup just change the names of the seed and pollen parent.

The RHS site is supremely helpful, but I have found that there have been a number of grexes that I have not been able to find the names of using the parents. This being before I have found out the name of the grex - and have had to look through pages and pages of internet searches to find a possible name - then, when I put the grex name in it gives me the exact parents as I put into the original search. Very odd. I keep meaning to email them when I have this happens to me, but never get round to it.

This happens to me a lot. Especially when there is an apostrophe in the name. I don't know why...

If you are certain of part of the name(s) in this case let's say you know the parents are called "Angel XXXX" and "XXXX toshie" then you just put in "angel%" in the first field and "%toshie" in the second and presto!

In the case you mention Kerry, the problem might be that the RHS search also recognises if a space is made after the grex name. If for instance the guy typing in the grex "little toshie" accidently typed "little toshie " (with a space after "toshie") then you wont be able to find the plant by just typing the grex name as you normaly would. <- did that make any sence??
If you remember a particular cross you once had a problem with Kerry, try doing a search with "%" on both sides of the parent grex names, could be interesting to see if it works

Ah, the wildcard characters! Thanks for the tip.

(I always thought the wildcards were $.$ or *.*. I guess it's different on various database search engines or whatever.)

They're great if you don't really remember all of those long latin names to.. IMO the guy that made up latin was just trying to show of!

I thought the reverse crosses are still considered the same and not eligible for registration, is that correct?
