That is wonderful coloring!
Which did you cut off? The heat or the 3rd failed bud?

This is it's second blooming about six months after the first. It still has some minor deformities (though less than before) but the colours are so gorgeous and it has a lovely scent. It actually produced 3 flowers but the third flower bud was damaged by the heat, I think, so I cut it off...

Lovely pastel colors.
Very sweet.
Lovely... congrats.
I wish I could cut off the heat here in HK but sadly that's beyond my control! I did move it to a cooler/shadier location though. So it was the bud that I cut off.... it was pressed against the leaf and I think perhaps it didn't get much airflow around it or something? The buds seem to exude a sticky liquid of some sort as they develop and being against the leaf, this seemed to cause it stick to the leaf as the liquid dried.
It seems to be quite a sensitive plant as all the other species of orchid flowers I've had (with very similar growing conditions) haven't produced such deformities. Also, you will notice that even these 2 flowers are quite different - the flower on the right is not as brightly coloured as the one on the left (it's not just the lighting in the photo) and the lip is also non-symmetrical and a different shape.
More experimentation to be done obviously!
Thanks for all the comments!
Did the flowers open at the same time or were there days/a week between openings? That time could account for the color differences.
But still a very pretty catt. I don't buy catts any longer (somehow they fell down the list of favorite orchids once I saw the range of orchids that exist), but I would buy this one.
Very nice color on this cattleya. Do you know the name of this one?
