62nd Annual Orchid & Garden Show
The Philippine Orchid Society will be holdings its 62nd annual Orchid and Garden Show from February 28 to March 10, 2008 at the Quezon City Hall Orchidarium Park (Lagoon Area) Quezon City , at the corner of East Avenue and Elliptical Road, Diliman, Quezon City. This year’s theme is “Nurturing Our Orchid Species” as a way of bringing to the public the exceptional diversity of indigenous and endemic Philippine orchids species, and how to cultivate them whether in its own habitat or in our own homes.
The place is a venue for plant shows, exhibit and trade fairs usually visited by approximately 25,000 guests, students, foreigners, and plant connoisseurs. The POS had been holding its orchid and garden shows in this venue for the past 5 years.
The show features an orchid and landscape competition from among the country’s top collectors, breeders and landscape experts at the sprawling open space exhibition area of Quezon City. The commercial section boasts of about 70 suppliers carrying the widest assortment of plants and garden supplies, as well as other specialty booths from the Society’s partners. Entrance fee is only P 30.00 for adults and P20.00 for students and senior citizens with valid ID. Group discounts will also be available.
Highlights of the Orchid and Garden Show:
. National Orchid Competition on Best in Philippine orchid species, Best Foreign Orchid Species, Best Philippine hybrids, Best Dendrobium , Best Cattleya , Best Vanda , Best Oncidium, Best in orchid culture, Best in Orchid Landscape and other Special awards.
· Specialty booths from key partners of the society like Gawad Kalinga, Conservation International, Goodwill bookstore, Philippine Native Plants Conservation Society Inc.
· Allied Botanical Corporation the country’s top fertilizer, seed distributor will have their specialty booth and will provide lecture on fertilization techniques on orchids as well as ornamental plants.
. Dai – Ichi electronics will sponsor the popular garden sound system and garden accents.
· Landscaped booth will feature rare coveted orchids and ornamental plants on display.
· Free daily lectures and demonstrations on various orchid topics and other horticultural topics from experts, industry practitioners, plant owners, government agencies, award winning landscaper, plant entrepreneur, artists and respected agricultural experts.
· Top foreign dignitaries, ambassadors, diplomats, government officials, garden clubs, school presidents, celebrities and VIPs are expected to grace the annual orchid show.

product sampling during the show .
62nd Orchid and Garden Show – Overall Chairman
This year’s overall show chairman is Mr. Carlos Valeriano- Lazaro who is also the current president of the Philippine Orchid Society and current vice president of the Los Baños Orchid Society one of the leading orchid society in Southern Luzon.
He is also a consistent landscape award winner both in orchid and in ornamental plant landscaping and a plant connoisseur. He has a degree of BS Industrial Management Engineering in Colegio de San Juan de Letran- Calamba , Laguna
He is also a member of several orchid and horticultural societies in the country. He had also participated in various international orchid and horticultural shows which had widely acclaimed praises from over the world.

too bad i can't come. I had my vacation from work early by 2 week. I would have indulged in a another buying binge of good phil species
