So, here is another one that has graced us with it's first flowering...the fragrance is just wonderful and we are very proud of it, he has survived a big move this year and suffered extreme heat in transit and dehydration that almost killed it. I brought him back from the brink and is now healthy and flowering.
    Hope you like it.
    Cheers

Lovely....I sure have trouble with these, just keeping them alive, much less seeing a spike. Kind of frustrates me as they are supposed to be so easy to grow and I easily grow and flower things that are supposed to be harder! LOL

I am trying to get mine to grow. Seems the first one I got to come out last fall was quite a bit smaller than the ones I saw in Belize. Will they get bigger the longer they grow or are their some that are bigger than others and if so what are their names and who do you order them from? Sorry for all the Questions but I'm a real newby.

He he he... I know what you mean! I have that same problem at times as well. The trick with these is that unfortunately most orchid books and websites mention that these are cool growing. I found that they do better when grown intermediate to warm. Also, they need a slight drying in winter when water is sparsely applied. Mine is grown in a pot and is in a greenhouse year round, the leaves seem to get holes if low humidity is experienced and flowers stick or blast in those dry conditions. They are more and more rare in nature so i recommend you get another one and give it a go just for that reason.
    Cheers

Hello there, well, not knowing your conditions for culture over there I would say that yes, they do get bigger as they get older and the flower spikes also get longer. This one is only a baby and it's first flowering, but I have had another many years ago and it sure was much bigger!! almost 40cm high.
Where to order? well I am in Australia and can't help with that one... he he he.
They are not so common here either and getting harder to get. There are other colour varieties but these are almost impossible to get and only slight variations.
Good luck with your search and try a species grower in your state or nearby, I am sure growers in Florida will be able to help.
    Cheers
