I hate to be the one to tell you, that is a Phaelanopsis Orchid. These can handle a wide variety of conditions.

Phals are perfect for the house as they get along with the lower light conditions and warmer temps. They will be long bloomers and easy keepers, just be careful to not let water stay in the crown when watering them.

Thank you for that, It is currently in a ceramic pot which has been designed to keep the plant held above any water which may pass right through to the bottom. Whenever i water my orchids i do it in the bath and leave them for about an hour to let any excess water drip out before putting them back on the fire place. I have been misting all of them each morning which seems to be keeping them happy

I also never water directly on to the plant, always at the sides as close to the plant as possible without hitting the plant itself.

The thing I like most about phals is how long the flowers last. My Brother Lawrence was bought a year ago, it bloomed for four months.

Well actually they all bloom or should I say spike in late Nov - Dec and bloom Feb-Apr. But the good news is that the blooms can last till June.

My partner is spreading the orchid joy
He went out to get a mothers day gift for his mother and nana and came back with some stunning phals Just unfortunate that they aren't joining my collection
