Nice colour on that one, Lynda. Good growing.
Is it just me or are more and more people backlighting their blooms with sunlight?

Two years ago I purchased a large division of this plant. It really struggled and there were times I almost gave up on it--but then it had a change of heart and sent up a nice spike. It is my first phrag of its kind to bloom for me (multifloral? is that the term?)

Stunning!
Congratulations on a beautiful, multi-floral blooming!
Cheers,
BD
very nice! I purchased my division 2 years ago as well. I wonder if it came from the same woman when she divided her plant??? Is yours from Lily??
Lynda do you know the history on this plant? It is not actually a Sedenii but is actually a Schroederae {caudatum X Sedenii) But was labeled Sedenii when it was awarded. The judges obviously didn't know what Sedenii should look like.
Yes! My plant was from Lily. I'll have to look for the pictures, but I think my blooms are different than what I expected from her pictures, but since I like them, I don't care. I'm just thrilled to finally have it bloom.
It came as a HUGE mass of roots, and since she had had it in S/H, that's what I did. But it really had a hard time. It's neat that you and I both ended up with a piece of the same plant! Are your blooms like mine?
Interesting about the name history too. I count on those in the know to figure these things out!
Lynda that is funny that we both have a piece of the same plant...small world... I too put mine in S/H and bloomed it last year. I just checked mine a few days ago and there was no signs of spiking. but I have 2 growths that should spike this year. Here is the pic of my blooming from last year.
Edit. FYI, multifloral is usually a term not used with Phrags. Offhand I can't think of any Phrag that blooms only with one flower. With slippers it is a term used with Paphs.
Hey, good info Ron; I appreciate learning something new--and that does make sense, too. Love your picture--obviously IS from the same plant. Bet it likes your GH better than my dry, sunny living room
Oops--I just realized that this means that I still have not bloomed a multifloral yet. Patience, Lynda!
WOW! What beautiful blooms!
Excellent choice for a first phrag! you have good taste
