    Easter Stew Recipe

    INGREDIENTS:

    * 1 Easter Bunny, about 3 pounds, cut up
    * 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
    * 3 tablespoons butter
    * 1 cup chopped celery
    * 2 medium onions, thinly sliced
    * 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
    * 1 teaspoon salt
    * dash pepper
    * 1 bay leaf
    * 4 cups water
    * 4 cups dry red wine
    * 2 cups diced carrots
    * 4 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
    * 4 ounces sliced mushrooms, sauteed
    * 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
    * 1/3 cup water

    PREPARATION:
    Directions for Easter stew.
    Dredge bunny pieces with 1/2 cup flour. Melt butter in a Dutch oven over medium heat; brown rabbit pieces on all sides. Add celery, onion, salt, pepper, bay leaf, 4 cups water, and wine; bring to the boil. Reduce heat to a simmer, cover, and simmer stew for 2 hours. Add carrots, potatoes, and mushrooms; cook for about 25 to 30 minutes longer, or until vegetables are tender. Combine 1/4 cup flour and 1/3 cup water; stir until well blended and smooth. Stir flour mixture into the broth; cook and stir until thickened.

    Hmm....sounds like something to get the animal rights folks' tails in a bunch! lol Probably tastes like Chicken stew. I used to go hunting the little furry ones when I was a teen with my dad and brother. Nothing like seeing the easter bunny de-furred and gutted. Kinda takes the fun out of Easter. I didn't do any hunting as the guns they had knocked me on my bottom and gave me big bruises at that point.

    Talking Chocolate???

    Hmm... just checking... but... you guys DO realize that those little round brown things in the yard by the "easter" bunnies aren't chocolate eggs, right? ... or chocolates of any kind.....

    (I had to explain this to my little cousin years ago.)

    Those little round brown things are incipient bunny bombs! Collect them in a 5 gallon bucket, add water to cover and let ferment for a week or two. Place a hand trowel full of this goo into a plastic baggie (the old fashioned kind that you twist tie shut)and TIGHTLY tie it. These "missles" will burst against immovable objects when launched firmly. (Aren't you glad you didn't live in my neighborhood when I was growing up?)

    Definitely glad for that.... But I grew up on a farm out in the country...
