    Default Aren't They Supposed to Open?

    I posted pics of this several days ago. I expected the lip to open more. So what's going on? Not enough light...water....temp???? What?

    Ahhhh. I had that hybrid in the past and I remember the exact same problem.
    We probably got the plants from the same pod lol.

    I tried to gently pry the lip open, but I found out that the lip itself is deformed.
    It was too long in certain places and is blocking the entire lip from unfurling.

    I think I still have the plant in my GH somewhere. It just has not been blooming lately.

    I have seen similar ones too. Not sure why that happens.

    Humidity is a likely course.These plants want treatment the same as the odonts.

    I agree with orchid-man.... these babies love their humidity, though I have found with working with hundreds of this hybrid, some do have slightly deformed flowers, must thus be a genetic flaw in the hybrid, but not something that can't be bred out. Most though will perform and flower quite well, but make sure humidity is up there at all times.
