Do cattleya have eyes

All my catts are two years old. I got 20 from one big one. I saw purple flowers on the original. I just want to get more flowers, I think I am getting impatient for flowers.

Rick, how many p-bulbs did you use for each division when you divided the mother plant? If you have at least 3-5 p-bulbs per division, the plant would not have missed a beat. Curious, why did you want multiples of the same plant?

I think one or two with plenty of roots too go with. This was my first orchad.

That is why you are waiting so long for flowers again. I never make a front lead division of a Catt without having 3-5 p-bulbs. That insures that the plant will have enough strength to bloom on the next growth. Some things we learn from experience, others from experience of others.

Thanks. I do know that there are a lot of healthy roots and the leaves are 3 time larger than the mother plant. I will not do that again.

Well, you are well on your way to having blooms again. If you made the divisions 2 years ago, I suspect that they will bloom for you next year.

Question - it is possible to have a catt that due to perhaps being and unlucky division, doesn't have any active eyes?

I have two bought on the same day, treated more or less the same, one has new growth, the other doesn't. Now obviously the plant could just be stubborn, but part of me is worried it CAN'T produce a new growth....

Rick if the roots are fine and there are at least 3-5 p-bulbs it should, if given the proper light exposure it needs, not have any problems flowering for you. It's difficult waiting for earned flowers, but it's so worth it (or so I've heard).

I did take my meds today...that's why I'm even able to function....sort-of I think of catt "eyes" as the point of new growth. Now, I'm not your smartest orchid person by any means and I know someone will correct me but I believe these pics will help. The last pic shows the eyes just starting to mature...I think...or maybe my eyes are playing with me....more drugs...quick One of them is NOT a catt but the base of a Zygopetalum demonstrating its "eyes" wide open!
