    Default I want to grow my own.....

    So.....I was wondering......how do i go about starting my own orchids? I have only bought them from the store as a mature plant.......Any info in the right directions would be awesome!

    Check out the Orchid Propagation section of this forum.
    It has the information and references to propagating orchids from seed or meristems.

    It is not an easy path, but very rewarding for those who have the patience and dedication.

    It is a challenge, some of us are more patient than others. From crossing (polination) to bloom can easily take 7 or 8 years. Buying seedlings is cheaper but they can take 3 to 5 years to bloom. NBS orchids usually will bloom in 1 or 2 years. So determine your level of patience and then choose. Or do a mix, some seedlings, some NBS, etc.
