trouble with my phal...

This phal i got as a gift, my very first orchid. it bloomed once last year when i received it.
I also raise rats for pets. Somehow, one of my babies got out one morning, and RAVAGED my orchid. I talked to a guy at a box store, he told my to put cinnamon on the wounds and feed it at every watering and hopefully it'll spring back, but he warned me that the are very slow growers, etc. This was a year ago. Finally, a leave emerged around October, and grew very nicely, but slowly. That eventually got broken by a mysterious accident(my 5 y/o neice was over grr). and now, a teeny baby leaf is emerging.

What now? how can i heal those leaves? I've lost 2 leaves total(the first fell off shortly after turning yellow after the rat incident.)

Relax. Leaves do not grow back or fill in when damaged. The guy was right on about the cinnamon. Be patient, consider fertilizing at 1/2 strength every watering, except the 4th use plain water to wash out excess salts. Phals must have a cool down period (temp variation day to night of 20 degrees or so) to set a spike. I have a couple of 'mules' that I am moving ever closer to the compost bag as they have not bloomed in over a year. (I have too many to put up with the prissy ones.)
