From my limited experience each paph. growth only blooms once, then a new fan has to grow in order for it to flower again. I'm not sure but I think most old growths will die of eventually some sooner than others.

I have a Paph Maudiae type; it is my first. I bought it blooming and the bloom was wonderful. Now there is what I assume to be next years vegetative growth developing adjacent to the main set of leaves. Will next years bloom come from the new growth or will both growths be able to produce blooms? Also, if the old growth does not produce, will it eventually die off? Thanks in advance for your help.
Pedro

Thanks. I figured if it didn't flower again it was pretty much useless for the plant after the new growth becomes established.
