    Default BD's Grandma's Donuts

    As requested by Ischel...

My grandmother's Donut recipe. I could not find my copy, so I had to have my mom email it to me. Enjoy.

    Ingredients:

    4 eggs (beat well)
    1 cup sugar
    3 Tbs melted butter
    1 cup milk
    4 cup sifted flour
    5 tps baking powder
    1/2 tsp nutmeg
    1 tsp. vanilla

    Instructions:

Cream butter and sugar together and beat in the eggs.

Next, add in the dry ingredients and the melted butter.

Finally, stir in the milk and the vanilla.

Put 1/3 of dough on floured board knead lightly. Roll into 1/4 inch thickness.
Using a floured biscuit or donut cutter, cut your donuts out and place on lightly-floured wax paper.

Fry in deep, hot oil, turning donuts as soon as they rise to the top. Remove from oil as soon as they are done to your liking. (I always liked them to be a bit gooey inside )

    Icing for Donuts

    Ingredients:

    Powdered sugar
    Canned milk

    Instructions:
Stir together some canned milk and white, powdered sugar. Mix well to get smooth, but do not make the mixture too runny. Mix in a small bowl and remix as you need more.

As the donuts come out of the oil, set them on paper to catch the dripping oil. Then remove warm donuts from paper and dip into the icing mixture. Set on wax paper and eat warm or cool.

    Enjoy!

    Cheers,
    BD

Oh wow...I really want to make these. Since it's going to be 96 degrees here tomorrow, I probably won't be going outside AT ALL, so I will make donuts instead!! My husband will love me for this...haha.

I am not going to heat up the house with a deep fryer during this early heat wave. I just lost 10 lbs (and a few more today from sweating) and although they sound yummy...this is one recipe that I am not going to copy...I bet I am missing a delicacy...I love apple cider donuts and apple fritters...guess that is from being from the northeast but only ate one last fall
