Hi, I think you should grow your Encyclia citrina in bright light. It also needs good air circulation. It likes to drink so supply lots of water, but be sure to let its medium dry out between watering. This particular Enc will grow in cool to intermediate temps. Since you live in Hawaii, you should grow this one outside under shade. It will do well growing in cattleya conditions.
The flowers bloom down (hang down), so lots of people grow them in a basket or mounted instead of in a pot. Hope this helps!
cheers,
BD
Thank you so much.
It hang down on a cork boad.
I will make effort for it.
This is my suggestion. Put the plant in the crisper box in your frig at night for a few weeks in winter. Bring it back out during the day. This will make it flowers in Spring. It will not flower as nice if it doesn't get cold in the winter. Check out my pictures of the plant in my other post.
I can conform that. This plant needs realy cold in winter. I keep it below 10C and hope to see it flowering soon.
Peter - note that you replied to a post from 2008. That is something I've done all too many times in a forum I am new to. I try to remember to check the dates when I am reading up a new and interesting forum, but sometimes I forget.
Old posts still contain helpful information.
Very true.
