Default Now THIS is a greenhouse! (Warning picture heavy

LOL! Visited Meijer Gardens back in April (I know I know I'm just now FINALLY getting pics posted ......... so sorry to have been neglecting my duties.

Some cacti/succulents in the desert portion:

This plant cracked me up -- the common name they had on it was "Cow Pattie" LOL

    In the tropical/bog area:
    A couple of Nepenthes

My favorite Nep --- N. bicalcarata -- gotta love those dripping fangs!

    A general/generic room of sorts:

This plant (Aristolochia grandiflora) was just too darned cool IMO ....

And the main body of the greenhouse:

This cute lil fella stayed so still most folks didn't know he was alive

Always amazes me how tiny quail are -- momma bird could very easily sit in a tea cup

Oh my goodness! The picture of the greenhouse itself--well that was all I needed! Amazing! Then to see inside! Gorgeous! The only one I've seen that even compares is the NY Botanical Gardens--big victorian style glass greenhouse.

Perhaps I ought to know this, but where is Meijer Gardens?

Very cool...thanks for sharing these Paul! I have also been to the NY Botanical, Brooklyn Botanical, one in Chicago, One in Montreal, another in Niagara Falls and San Diego. Never seen one as modern as that one...wonderful!

If you ever get to Niagara Falls...visit The Butterfly Conservatory. Tropical greenhouse with tropical butterflies flutterng around...it was wonderful!

Ahhh, I love greenhouses. :-) My old alma mater has a great one - not all that large by comparison, but Victorian style and over 100 years old. The Lyman Conservatory at Smith College - took my first horticulture class there and got my very first orchid from their leftovers too!
