Thanks. We live in the middle of the country at the base of the Ozark mountains. A very rural area with nothing around us but trees and fields.

The pond is man-made and runs along the side of our house. It has a rock retaining wall along the side of the house and a dirt edge on the opposite side. It is long and skinny and makes an "L" shape as it turns the corner behind the house. It was a cattle pond when we moved here in 1996 and was surrounded by barbed-wire fencing..

Since then, we removed all of that old fencing, and planted all of the trees you see in the photo in bloom including a red cherry tree and a Bradford Pear tree. We also planted some holly bushes under the pine trees to fill in that area and make our back yard more private from passing vehicles.

We added in a large fountain to the end of the pond behind the house with a pump to re-circulate the water. We also started feeding the fish. Now the pond is full of life - frogs, turtles, fish, and some water plants. We have cattails and the lotus so far. We had waterlilies, but the turtles or fish (not sure which) did them in. I keep my water iris in a pot in the fountain. I bring it inside the house during the winter though.

    Thanks for the nice compliments.

    Cheers,
    BD

Dont forget the ripen seed very nice taste you can try. In Malaysia the Chinese people here get the lotus seed to make "Moon Cake". Be careful multiples spikier torn along the flower stalk very itchy.
