    Default Burlap for shading?

I'm currently using burlap as shadecloth over my setup outside, and it is exactly like the picture except I don't have it doubled over so slightly more sun gets through. Do you think this is too much shading?

edit: I suppose it'd be helpful if I told you what I was growing. Several catts, a vanda, dendrobium, and an angraecum.

If you have a light meter or camera, take a light reading during the brightest point in the day under the burlap. That should give you a better since of how much light your orchids are getting. Cattleyas need between 2000 - 3300 footcandles of light to bloom. They can grow in much less light, but are not as likely to bloom. Vandas will need even more light.

Hmm...I suppose I shouldve been a bit more clear with my question. What I really want to know is if anyone else has had experience with this method of shading, and if so about what percent shade would large-holed burlap be? I know how much light my plants SHOULD be getting, but if anyone has used this before - will it suffice?

Kelly, I remember Shannara from the forum using burlap on her porch (as shown on this picture from her grow area), you should ask her/PM her your "large-holed burlap" questions. (as you call it ...)
