Hi I'm new.

I broke the blooming stem right when it started to produce buds. It was a new growth on an existing stem. Now it has grown a new stem at the point of breakage, at the top of the 6inch spire,It has bloomed and now roots are growing out of it . Can I trim this off and plant it?

are there any leaves? You would need leaves to produce energy for the plant.

Malason, If this is a Kekei (baby) it will grow leaves, give it time.

Yes, it will grow some leaves if it is a keiki. The roots are usually second to leaves, but sometimes it happens the other way.

Hi, I've got a problem with one of my phals. I bought it a month ago and it was doing well and the bloom was good, but the thing is it has chains of problem after the second week. First, the bottom leaf started to get limp and then the yellowing spread. I touched the leaf and feel that it's soggy and has a yellow liquid in it. I started to cut back the leaf to the healthy part just to prevent it from spreading but it keeps on getting until the whole leaf has to be cut and I've applied some cinnamon just in case it's fungus. I was afraid that it will get through the roots, but I'm not really sure. Then this week I've notice the flowers started to wilt all at the same time except for two (actually It has two spikes), though the leaf looks healthy and firm, then I decided to take it out of its pot to see if the rest of the roots it their still ok, only two stays good but the rest are already got root rot. So, I re-potted it. Will it survive? I'm new to this kind of problem, can you help me please!

It is common for the oldest bottom leaves to die, not a big deal. The blooms dobt last forever, it depends how long the plant had been blooming b4 u got it. Ease off on the watering and put a small fan near it to help it dry out. Always insert a finger into the media to see if the plant is wet or dry down below b4 you water. Keep it out of aftenoon direct sun.
