Default Where to grow my orchid

I'm new to orchids and I was wondering where I should locate my Yamadara Queen Adelia. The growing instructions say that it "prefer(s) bright light, but must be protected from direct sunlight." I have 2 options. One is my dining room which gets lots of sunlight but the best location for the plant is about 3 feet from a vent and I didn't know if that was too close. The other option is my front porch which actually gets less light than the dining room. I live in GA with average day time temps in the mid 90's and 70's at night. The growing instructions say the plant should have daytime temps from 80-90.

    Thanks for your advice!

Sounds like both places could work... if the plant is currently in bloom, you may want to keep it inside... and when it finishes the bloom, then if it's easier to grow it outside (at least for the summer) then maybe do that... ease of watering always comes in handy in making sure this hobby doesn't become a chore as well.

i am by no means an expert, but i have always believed that plants do not occur in nature inside a house. i'm originally from florida and have seen the huge difference in the quality of other plants grown outdoors as opposed to those that survive indoors. my vote would be to leave it on the porch until winter, then let it winter in the dining room.

Thanks! It's not in bloom so I may move it outside. All my other plants are on the porch as well so that will keep things simple.

During the summer, I would go for the porch with this one.
