I've heard a lot of folks use Physan 20 to control bacteria, fungus, algae and virus. I just got my first bottle.

I have fungus problems - what fungicide do you use for treatment? Aliette or a combination?
I've heard a lot of folks use Physan 20 to control bacteria, fungus, algae and virus. I just got my first bottle.
Amond the best fungicides are:
Aliette ... systemic
Thiophanate methyls ... systemic
Subdue ... systemic
Phyton 27 ... copper [do not use with thiophanate methyls due to pH]
Copper sulphate wettable powder ... topical ... very broad spectrum
Dithane M45 ... topical
Manzate ... topical
There are many others, but the above have been used for many years with a generally high safety margin.
RD-20 is a topical oxidant that will help with general sanitation [alge, etc.].
I would add banrot to that list
Oh you lucky people to have such choice. Do you know that copper fungicides are banned in Europe ? IN fact, as far as I know , all copper products of this kind for amateur use - the nanny state, we might poison ourselves..... Physan and Phyton are also banned in the sense that they cannot be sold here, because they are not licensed , and to get a licence you have to undergoing testing to show that th product is safe , won't contaminate the water supply or whatever, and the people who make those products say that it would cosat too much to do that testing.
In fact every time anyone invents something which really will kill the bugs it gets banned.... when I was young I used to get nicotine ( deadly poison) and use in the greenhouse. Scale and thrips and everything else found it deadly too . So did a few gardeners I suppose.... Malalthion went the same way, although I have to admit that it did produce some freakish results - crown blindness but without actually killing the plants in phallies etc, and so on... When I visit some nurseries east of Suez, and see the things they use routinely - as miticides, insecticides , fungicides etc, I think that the legislators in Europe would have heart failure of they knew!
You are kidding me Geoff? That is rather pathetic. Even we arent that bad. But i wouldnt even go near orchids with a copper based mix, they absolutely HATE the stuff. Try Sulphur instead, liquid sulphur works well, and is mostly organic anyway!
