How did you come up with your username?

I often wonder how people choose their usernames here on OrchidTalk. It is obvious for some, but for others, I am still guessing. So, here is your chance to enlighten all of us here regarding your user name choice. Have fun! This hopefully will make for some interesting reading and discussions.

My username is probably one of the ones Bruce describes as obvious. Even though I'm still quite new to this obsession, I find they increasingly do rule my life. Whenever I go on trips, I wonder what orchid related activities might be available at a location. I keep bringing home more orchids even though I told myself (several dozen plants back!) I have no room for any more. As to the "Z" in my username, well, I guess I just wanted something a bit campy, and it was available!

When I got my first computer we lived in a tiny apartment. The dining room became my computer area, and my desk sat in the corner. Also, my initials are Cj.....my husband started it by calling it "cj's corner". The name stuck and I've used it for alot of sites. Mine was pretty obvious too...lol.

I use this name at many places so used it here when I registered. When I joined the AOS forum many years ago there was another Ron who participated in it. To differentiate myself, I added what state I was from...therefore it became Ron-NY

Becky15349 has been with me for while! Back in the AOL hayday, when everyone HAD to have AOL and a modem and a phone line to even think about accessing this nutty thing called the internet, I was about 11 years old or so. I'm 27 now. I don't mean to make anyone feel old, but you asked for a story, so...

I was a huge nerd. I was in gradeschool. We used computers at school, but I had to have a computer at home!!...I had to get on the internet and figure out what it was!!! So one night, when my parents were asleep, I went downstairs and took my mom's credit card from her wallet. The next day I walked to Office Max, bought a computer (on her credit card) and took it home, set it up, and then tried to sign on to AOL...well, you had to buy a subscription or whatever, so out came mom's credit card again...

Long story short, I was grounded for about 15 years, but I chose to use my name as my screen name, plus some random numbers that AOL suggested I add to the end of my screen name to distinguish me from all the other Becky's out there Thus, I've had this name forever, and I'm reluctant to give it up, as it reminds me of my rebellous grade school days

Well, unimaginative girl here, Molly Taco is the Rat and my youngest fur kid. I don't know why I use her name, I guess that I like it better than my given name.

so, i've also been online for a long time... since i was about 18 i guess... and MIRC which is an online chat came along and i was trying to set up a profile etc etc... anyways, i had a picture which is what i was going to add to my profile and it was me sitting on a bench and thought i'd add the year i was born '72.

i just figured i wasn't very imaginative at all... aaah well... served its purpose
