Hi all!
Just thought I'd share a few pics I took yesterday at the IOS meeting at the Chicago Botanical Gardens. It was my first meeting that I've attended after moving back to Chicago, and I'm really happy that I joined! It was a nice group...and to top it all off, I won a paph in the raffle AND my that hot-pink Slc. of mine that I posted on here a few days ago won a first place prize among all the blooming catts that were brought to the meeting It was really cool!! I'm excited about the paph - I don't have the tag here with me, but it says that the parents were red, so this one should be red also. Any suggestions for me with this paph? I've only had 1 before, and I killed it miserably.... Enjoy the pics! You can see my catts in pic 1...
Thanks for looking!

That is so cool, Becky! Congratulations on winning the ribbon judging and a raffle plant - that make it all the more fun! I love participating in my orchid society. If you make new friends who would enjoy our community here, invite them to join. I can post a 'business card' file that has the OrchidTalk web address on it if you want to print it out to share. I put a stack of them out at the show my society hosted in May and people picked them up. I am not sure if anyone joined OrchidTalk because of it, but at least they got an invite.
Thanks for sharing the photos!
Cheers,
BD
That was a win-win for you Becky! Congrats!
Your Catt definitely stands out and you totally deserved that ribbon.
Good luck with the paph, can't help you on that one as I have never ventured in PaphLand ....
Neat, Becky. That's great!
How do I get involved with the Illinois Orchid Society? I am new to the "hobby" and think it'd be great to join something like that, probably help me out too.....Thanks, Jim

Congratulation Becky! can't beat a neat little mini with great colour and shape!
and well done with the Paph... if it has mottled leaves then less light than the catts and a little more moist... ie don't let it dry out, but here's the but... don't let it stay wet too long either... course i'm thinking you must have got a maudiae-type going by the description that the parents are red.. hope it grows well and bloom for you soon!
It actually doesn't have any variegation on the leaves - its one of the regular solid green leaved type. I think I know how to take care of it...it just requires a little more "paying attention to" than my other ones
oh, not variegated... so must be one of the 'complex' or bulldog hybrids... well good luck with it... as u know i'm a paph fan so I am looking forward to seeing it in bloom
