Wow. Tis gorgeous indeed. I just purchased OrchidWiz software and looked up Dennis Kone & Adesso Tu. They are extremely similar! BTW, Dennis Kone is no longer considered a Blc (do I hear groans?). It, like Adesso Tu, is now in the genus Thwaitesara. Not sure how that plays out with awarded clones.

    Cheers,

    Rob

    Hi Ania,

LOL Thwaitesara is one of those names where, rather than combining the names of the various genera, they rename it with a supposedly simpler (HA!) name. Usually they are named after someone who made a significant contribution to orchid growing and/or study. They add the "ara" as a suffix to somehow (I guess) Latinize it. So, this is named after someone named Thwaites (or possibly Thwaite). It is a complex Grex of Cattleya x Guarianthe x Rhyncholaelia x Sophronitis.

Anyhow, the parents of Thwaitesara Dennis Kone are Cattlianthe Chocolate Drop (kudos to everyone who correctly pointed that out) and Thwaitesara Painter's Brush. About 12 species in the Cattleya Alliance make up this plant's ancestry.

    Cheers,

    Rob

    Ania,
Most of my "knowledge" is just what my software tells me (except for bit about the sticking on of "ara" onto a person's name) and I'm just acting as a conduit. Glad if you found the information helpful!

    Cheers,

    Rob

Interesting! So, nothing to do with orchids at all. Maybe they have run out of orchid-related people? LOL

    Cheers,

    Rob
