    Default Creamy Tomato Soup

In a large soup pot, combine the tomatoes, sugar, basil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper; bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally.
Reduce the heat to low and slowly stir in the cream. Simmer for 4 to 5 minutes, or until heated through; do not allow to boil.
Note: to make this recipe a little easier and lighter, we use dried basil and nonfat half and half instead of fresh basil and heavy cream.

This sounds great! It is so cold here tonight - I wish I had the heavy cream. I would so totally make this tonight. It sounds so soothing and warm. I will be trying this out very soon; it looks so easy. Thank you, Tami!

    Cheers,
    BD

wish you posted it last week, LOL...I was in the mood for an easy comfort dinner and I ended up using canned tomato soup to go with the grilled cheese sandwiches. I put basil and fresh tomato slices on the grilled cheese sandwiches prior to grilling them. My mom used to use margarine on the bread to do the sandwiches. I use a thin coating of mayo to do them.

I will definitely give this one a try...thanks Tami!

    Tami,
I love tomato, especially soup. I will try this out this weekend. Not to question your recipe, but should I add any water the mix to bring it to boil, or it is supposed to be heavy?

We don't use any water, Liz. This is a very thick bodied soup, and a little chunky from the crushed tomatoes. You can use the 'boat motor' to make it less dense if you like, or add water or more cream. Enjoy! Make it yours.

    Tami

PS hope you like it, Becky!
