Default Can I propagate phalaenopsis with aerial roots

My phalaenopsis is growing a long aerial root, reaching towards the pot next to it. Is it possible to let it grow into another pot and have it become a new plant? If I can't do that, what do I do with a huge root, assuming it continues to get bigger?

Yeah, unfortunately orchids are not like spider plants or other "easily propagatable" plants like begonias(did I spell that right?).... Your phal miht be growing aerial roots because its a little wet in the pot, but if not, sometimes they just do that! You could try soaking it in warm waterfor 30 minutes too see if you could gentle bend it back towards its own pot

I know this isn't what Jerry was asking, but, theoretically, couldn't the plant be meristemmed from a root?

Sure!! You could meristem a plant in sterile tissue culture from a root apical meristem...but most people don't have the set-up for that

When you put it into culture, you'd basically start to see a mass of cells develop, and then they start to differentiate and develop small leaves and stems, its the coolest thing ever I did part of my thesis on sterile culture.

Do you know how to do tissue culture? I would love to learn it very much.
