Default Orchid collecting on a cold day

Well, it is bright, sunny and minus 2F degrees. Winds W at 25 to 35 mph. I think I will stay inside and read. Let's see what's on the "shelf".
"Travels and adventures of an orchid hunter. An account of canoe and camp life in Colombia, while collecting orchids in the northern Andes" (1891) by Albert Millican looks good.

Houston will be 32 tonight, and it was almost 80 yesterday. Poor orchids have to adjust to this crazy temp range...

I am knitting a scarf, and it feels good to have a pile of cashmere on my lap on a cold day.

I won't give out daytime temps....you northern folk get testy when mention our temps this time of year ...but this morning I managed to get outside and do some major clean-up work done on the flower beds out back. It's the best it's looked back there in a long time.

It is 27 degrees here. I am listening to 'Stone Cold' on my mp3 player. I haven't had much time for pleasure reading, so this is fun. Stay warm friends.

    cheers,

There's a kind of joke one of my friends of norwegian descent makes as a craft item. It is a needlepoint on canvas of a large red zero with a green pine tree shape above it. Do you want to know what this is?

It is a winter thermometer. If the pine tree is on top of the zero, it is t'ree above. If the pine tree is below the zero, its t'ree below.
