Default phal keiki and growth -Something Different

I noticed this new growth on the end of an old spike. Usually I try to cut them but must have missed this. Now not only is there a new flower opening on the end but a keiki and root have grown and what appears to be a "misguided" flower. I've never seen this, but then again there's lots I haven't seen Anyway, thought this was different, but maybe not.....

    That's neat.

How well does it hold its yellow color as the flower ages?

Paul, this harlequin holds color very nicely. The flowers are very waxy/leathery in texture. I know many of my other yellows fade very soon after opening.

As much as I love some of the yellow phals, that fading issue is what has always caused me to refrain from purchasing one. A buddy of mine gave me a fantastic deep yellow phal a few years back. Unfortunately, it caught some sort of pestilence and did not survive treatment. Pot that lil keiki up if it seems like it is going to take off and add it to my "shopping order" Now I'll have to see what trades I may have to offer you come spring.........

Paul, just to update the pic...the flower is much smaller than usual and not as open but here it is.... you can see the flower is waxy and leathery in appearance.

WOW - that is a cool bloom. Weird what happened with the keiki though.
