    Default A sad day

It is so sad. I live in the historic town of Charlton, NY. 30 years ago my friend Mike's father, Bill, opened the Charlton Tavern and Restaurant in a building that was originally a stagecoach stop from the late 1700's. Mike has been running the tavern and took ownership of it a few years back. After a long battle with cancer, Bill passed this week and was buried on Thursday. Early this morning, the tavern along with the historic home next door, burned to the ground. Fortunately, there was no loss of life but the family is devastated from this double blow.

Oh, Ron! What a terrible loss for your friend and his family! If there's any comfort, it's that Bill wasn't around to see his precious investment lost.

This morning I piped at the funeral for a dear friend who died at 96 just before Christmas. He made me think I could live forever, but I guess not... We can let the notes I played this morning also hallow Bill's passing.
