    Default Phal. lobbii

Here's the first one of the big haul that opened (or has a spike as the others are all babies). It's just a bit smaller than a quarter but really cute and looks like it's smiling. It looks like it has a bit of a snake tongue at the top of the lip.

It's also called Phal. parishii var. lobbii and grows in the Eastern Himalayas at 1200-1500 ft. This dwarf species is more tolerant of higher light levels than most other phal species and can take up to 1800 footcandles. They can flower more than once a year but usually during the spring so mine must be confused.

Ohhh, wow. I LOVE it! So very cute, and from the Himalayas, too. I bid on one a few weeks ago, and it went way beyond my meager means... So I will enjoy yours vicariously! :-)

It's a cutie! I am learning to appreciate the smaller ones....they can be so delicate. Thanks for the pics...

The second flower opened a few days ago. I figured I'd wait until it fully opened. My wife is freaked out by them since they have some kind of sneaky looking smiley face (like the Joker).

NICE! I have 3 or 4 spikes on mine this year with the buds currently swelling. I keep mine mounted.
