Lovely daughter and beautiful horses -- thanks for sharing. I grew up riding (am a Pony Club survivor), and have recently started volunteering at a local horse rescue (lots of horses are being surrendered or abandoned due to the tough economy) and am taking riding lessons again to get my seat back. It feels good to be in the saddle again. Horses are such good people! There is nothing like having the trust, friendship, and respect of such a large, powerful creature. One day perhaps I'll have one of my own again.

My daughter did Pony Club for years. Rio was originally purchased off another Pony Club member. We got him for a reasonable price. The former owner was not able to handle him. He wasn't jumping. My daughter said to me that it wasn't the horse but the rider. She was correct, although it took quite a bit of training for my daughter as well. We had him for 3 years and sold him for considerably more than we paid for him.

I had a Walking Horse he would strut his stuff across the field so flawlesly and then turn and head to the barn with or without you. You had to be ready to duck at the barn he wasn't stopping until he was in his stall.

A really beautiful photo of Lisette & Rio. I always liked horses as a kid, but never had much opportunity to spend any time riding. I echo Laurent's comments--obviously you are a great dad to your kids!

    Cheers,
    Rob

Nice Pics Ron, I was a Horse person in a previous life had Appaloosas and was a groom for an Arabian stable. It is a good but hard life. Looks like your daughter has the bug BAD you are a good Dad to support her. My dad always said that he didn't know much about horses except they had a leg on each corner and you fed one end and cleaned up after the other.
