I have a quick question about the ultrasonic humidifiers. I need a humidifier for my bedroom, the air is too dry for myself. This is also where I keep my orchids. In the past I've had the regular warm mist humidifier. Since ultrasonics seem to be recommended I was going to purchase one of those this time. Since they put out a cool mist does this affect the temperature of a room at all?
Ok, I guess I have 2 questions really. It's mentioned that they are cheaper to run. But when you factor in filter costs or distilled water purchases are they really cheaper?

I use one for my orchids and can tell you that they don't affect the temp. in the room. As far as cost, I really don't know since my electric is included in my rent. It is nice to not have to deal with filters though. I just give it a good cleaning every other week and it's good to go.

I use them ,if you use distilled water or Ro. water then a filter is not needed , plus they turn off automatically when they run out of water .. Gin

I use one also - they don't effect the tempurature, because the water is already room temperature. Using distilled water works best for me, tap or even 'spring' water creates a white dust that gets into everything.

Thanks. I bought one yesterday though it doesn't have the auto turn off. I may return it for one that does have that function.
