Tanya, I think that one just happened to land where your orchids happened to be. We have similar-looking things here, but I've never noticed any of them actively chewing on orchid plants. I might be wrong but, for now, I would say no worries.

I've found this crawling on one of my orchids on the roof this afternoon. I didn't see any damage and it doesn't look like its the thing that chew or bite, more like its a sucking insect. Worse, maybe it doesn't mean any harm but what it left behind, like eggs, would wreck havoc later on? Size is about 2.5 cm from tip of the head to tail and about 1cm wide. Any idea what kind of bug is this?? Just like other bugs, it stinks :toofull: !
The "pearl" on its back is the head of the pin I used to hold it in place.

stink bug is what we call them here. I actually found *several* that had found their way into a museum I worked in last year, caused a stir. just a nuisance, from what i was told...
Thanks for the info. I have seen other stinky harmless bugs but they usually come and visit and lay their eggs everywhere in spring, and they are brown. This is my first time, or maybe its my first time to notice this bug, and its winter, so naturally it made me . Thanks again for the reassuring words.
Eww, stink bugs! ! Just a harmless bug...maybe getting rid of the eggs would be a good idea!
