Default Look at what I won!!! Ascda. Motes Burning Sands 'mary motes' HCC/AOS

This was the last raffle plant at the society meeting I attended tonight, and it's the one I wanted the most, so most of my tickets went into that cup. And, I was asked to pull the winning ticket. I think my hand must have had eyes.

The tag says: ASCM Motes Burning Sands 'mary motes' HCC/AOS

Please correct me if I haven't properly typed the name. I'm still learning this stuff. I was told it received a bronze award at one of the major shows.

All I know is it's a beauty, and I'm really thrilled to now have it here, living with me.

Oh yeah.... it has a keiki too!!

    congrats! It is a beauty!

It is an Ascocenda, so the first part should be abbreviated as Ascda.

I just looked at the tag again, and you are right... it does say Ascda. Whoever wrote it had awful handwriting.

Now, excuse my newbie ignorance please, but what's an Ascocenda? Does that mean it's not a Vanda and I posted in the wrong place?

The more I learn about orchids, the dumber I feel sometimes (okay, most of the time).

Ascda, is a man-made hybrid orchid genus resulting from a cross between Ascocentrum and Vanda (Asctm × V). This would be the correct place to post it.

Thanks everybody. I'm glad I posted it in the correct place, and as soon as my new tags get here, I'm going to make sure the name is readable.
