    Default My Grow Area

I live in a modest 3-story townhouse which basically has no real garden area. Unlike my ancestral family home which has a sprawling, sunny garden both in the front and the back areas - my townhouse only has a cramped, 3rd floor back laundry porch on the sunniest side and my ground floor "exposed-to-the-afternoon-sun" front porch as my garden areas.

Since I moved in to my townhouse, I had clear (now opaque due to the elements), polycarbonate roofing built on these areas to protect my plants (and myself) from the extremes of Philippine weather.

The photos here are only of the front porch area:

View at an angle from the gate-side facing the entrance-side of the townhouse. Notice the opaque polycarbonate roof and an outdoor-waterproof-type ceiling fan I placed above to boost air circulation during hot or extremely wet weather.

A sunny/wall side of the grow area. A few of the native species plants are growing in the background and still in their original-native mounting when I first got them from a vendor-friend who grows them in his wild, outdoor-style nursery.

Ever since I started filling my "garden areas" with orchids, my townhouse now has this "tropical, jungle look" atmosphere. Aside from my plants I have a turtle enclosure on the floor with a lone turtle getting bigger each day near the water faucet. My friends and neighbors joke me often saying that all I need now to complete the scene are some snakes hanging on the ceiling! Geesh! Farthest thing on my mind! No way! :o

This looks great! You were able to fit so many plants.
I really like the "jungle look" as you call it ...

Yeah in one aspect it's sort of funny 'coz if you're a tall person (I'm short, approximately 5 feet 5 inches in height which is the average height for a Filipino), you're likely to bump your head on some of the pots!
