Here are some other pictures from my Feb 09 visit to the Huntington Library. The purpose of the visit was for the Camellia show, however, these pictures aren't of the show flowers. These pictures are from the gardens.
Camellia Japonica- Julia France
Camellia Japonica- Pink Perfection
This one is special because it is one of the oldest Camellias in S. California. It was planted at the Huntington in 1903 and is approximately 120 years old!
Camellia Reticulata- Purple Gown
Not a camellia, but I think this tree is awesome
Dombeya Wallichii
I guess I was a little late in the season since 75% the flowers are dead, but here's a shot of the whole tree.

Stacey, that Dombeya Wallichii is just gorgeous!!
I've never been to the Huntington. Visited the Getty last time I was in Los Angeles (last summer) and never left the gardens until it was time to go home. Funny thing is I really didn't want to go, until we got there..........then I didn't want to leave.
Guess I'll have to plan another California trip, huh?
Is beautifu there. I would love to see it! Is it time for vacation planning?!
Fantasic flowers and great photos I think I am hard pushed to find a favourite there they are all so lovely, but that pompom of flowers is stunning
Lovely. I think my favorite is the Dombeya Wallichii. Really unique.
Cheers,

There is an annual orchid show at the gardens. I believe it is around October, if you two are planning a vacation. The Huntington is huge and I usually only go to a couple section per day. I'm not sure it's possible to the see the entire property in one day unless you want to walk 10 miles or so. lol.
For fantastic displays of color, my favorite gardens are the Buchart Gardens in Victoria, BC.
