Default Refieldara Jerry Pacific Empire - Not sure what to do with it

My very very awesome, A-1, amazing husband strikes again! I sent him on an errand to the grocery store for maple syrup and came home with this:

The tag says it's a Refieldara Jerry 'Pacific Empire'.

    Oncidium?

What to do to take care of it? It's from a grocery store, so probably repot immediately?

if that orchid is from a grocery store. It looks really fresh, so hopefully the roots are fine. Try to disturb the root ball as little as possible, but do repot into a bark mix. Care for this orchid as an oncidium.

Visit this RVO Care Page and click on Oncidium on the left menu.

    It is really pretty!

    Cheers,
    BD

    Hi Killer,
Your Jerry's parents are a specie Ada keilana and Odcdm Sorel Point. (Listed with spelling Rehfieldiara) Registered in 2000. That is a start. Beyond checking the media to see if it soft/decomposing, I don't have much advice. I'll defer to someone else. The genus is made up of Ada x Odontoglossum x Oncidium. You could check the culture sheets at aos.com or the mother nature's culture at Jay Pfahl's Internet Orchid Species Photo Encyclopedia
It is certainly a healthy orchid,
    Lee

In my experience most oncidium-type orchids from the grocery store/a big box store are mounted on a ball of sphagnum moss on the inside. This is usually their death sentence, so when I repot I try to remove that ball as much as possible. Usually no big deal and if it has healthy roots on the outside it will recover fine.

I can't find a Thank You button! Thank you so very very much! Specially to Lee for that wonderful genera 'splanation!

Oh and yes, my husband did not forget the maple syrup. :-)

Okay, the really interesting thing about this orchid is... it is potted in bark/perlite/peat moss mix. The bark is firm - looks like it just came off the bag! And the roots are skinny (I think this is normal for oncs) but firm and yellow-green. It looks really healthy to me. Amazing for something that came from a grocery store. Maybe because it is an organic grocery store???
