    Default Trouble with phal leaves

I bought my phal in the budding stage and it has bloomed wonderfully. In fact, the blooms are entering their second month and appear good as new. However, I've noticed something about the leaves. There appears to be a slit that has formed in two of the leaves. When I purchased the plant one of the slits was there but it appears to have gotten larger. Also, I noticed a similar problem in another leaf. What is the cause of this and what can I do to help correct it?

I hope somebody out there can help me....

It seems to happen fairly commonly with Phals. Sometimes as the leaf grows, sometimes due to mechanical damage. Last night I was checking one of my Phals. and something similar happened when I was examining a leaf. I did not apply excessive pressure or anything-it just happened. It is generally not of concern.

    Thanks for the info....

Now I'm not quite as worried. Even though I'm still new to the orchid craze, I can see myself becoming more over protective and paranoid with anything that seems out of the ordinary. I was never this way with other plants. I think orchids emply some sort of mind control over us..

I too have a phal with that situation (phal amabilis), I bought it that way, one leaf is split halfway down of the six on it but so far, still growing great. Blooms all gone but all five stems starting to spike again from noids.

I just take care for it not to be subject to too much direct on leaves light to dry out creases more.....hope yours will be fine too!
