    Default broken Psychopsis spike

I think a little part of my heart broke too when I accidentally snapped off the top 1/2 inch tip of my Psychopsis papilio spike. In desperation, I tried to tape the tip back, but I know that's obviously not going to work. So what should I do now? Do I just wait patiently for a new spike to emerge? Or could it still somehow bloom from the old spike? I'm so sad and mad at myself....

    Default so sorry!

I unfortunately did the same thing to one of my phalaenopsis spikes a few weeks ago and have been patiently waiting to see if anything will happen. No answer yet... I feel your pain.

I'm curious to see what other more experienced growers have to say!

It may be fine.I have had Onc spikes break or be cut off & they just through up a side branch & carry on blooming from that.
Wait & see is probably the only way .

Sorry to hear that Nancy, but do hold out hope! I have a small division which has been in spike for ever, supposedly (tho I got it out of bloom) and I was told NOT to cut it, that it could branch out and continue blooming.

I'll hope with you, I'd love to see one of these in person!

Default something to soothe your frazzeled nerves

    Hi all,
Took the guy(pyscopsis) from his abode and tried to get a better picture....the darn thing was like a kid ...wouldn't sit still and I had the fan off ! So it is still not the picture I want ,but show this to your pyscopsis and tell them this is what they are suppose to look like !!
It is amazing the thin wires(spikes) can hold these monsters up !

Orchid Fan-don't despair yet.My psychopsis has branched before so maybe yours will do so under the break.Just ignore it & maybe it will do something as well like the old adage--"A watched pot never boils! "
