I unfortunately did the same thing to one of my phalaenopsis spikes a few weeks ago and have been patiently waiting to see if anything will happen. No answer yet...I feel your pain.
I'm curious to see what other more experienced growers have to say!

In desperation, I tried to tape the tip back, but I know that's obviously not going to work. So what should I do now? Do I just wait patiently for a new spike to emerge? Or could it still somehow bloom from the old spike? I'm so sad and mad at myself....
